1. Information We Store Locally

Nova Mind stores your content locally on your device using a local SQLite database (via Drift) and encrypted local preferences:

• Notes & Documents: Text, markdown content, tags, and document titles created or scanned by you.
• Productivity Records: Tasks, checklist items, recurring habits, completion streaks, and calendar events.
• Wellness Data: Daily mood check-ins, reflection ratings, and personal focus metrics.
• Security Credentials: Encrypted PIN hashes and biometric unlock preferences (managed securely by the Android Keystore system on your hardware).

2. Cloud & Artificial Intelligence Processing (Google Gemini)

Nova Mind offers optional on-demand AI capabilities (AI second brain chat, document scanning OCR, and smart task suggestions). These features operate under strict confidentiality principles:

• Explicit User Action Only: Data is only transmitted when you voluntarily interact with an AI feature or tap "Summarize", "Send", or "Scan".
• Stateless & Ephemeral: AI requests (text prompt or captured crop image) are sent over encrypted TLS connections to our AI inference provider, Google Gemini.
• No Model Training: Your private data is never sold, leased, or used to train public machine learning or foundation models.

3. Device Permissions & How They Are Used

Nova Mind requests only the minimum device permissions essential to provide core offline functionality:

• Camera (android.permission.CAMERA): Required only when you use the built-in Document Scanner to snap physical pages for local text extraction. Images are processed locally on your device and never streamed in the background.
• Notifications & Exact Alarms (POST_NOTIFICATIONS & SCHEDULE_EXACT_ALARM): Used strictly on your device to trigger local reminders for tasks and habit schedules that you configure. No push notification tokens or telemetry are tracked on remote servers.
• Biometric Unlock (USE_BIOMETRIC): Used locally to verify your fingerprint or face when opening Nova Mind with App Lock enabled. Biometric templates remain encrypted in your device's hardware Secure Element and are never accessible to our application code.
• Photos & Storage: Nova Mind uses Android's native system Photo Picker. The app does not request or possess broad access to your device's shared photo or media storage.

4. Third-Party Analytics, Trackers, and Advertising

• Zero Advertising: Nova Mind contains no advertising networks or commercial sponsor SDKs.
• Zero Trackers: We do not embed behavioral tracking scripts, cross-app ad identifiers (GAID), or invasive analytics SDKs.

5. Data Export and Portability

You have unconditional ownership of your records. You can generate and download a complete, structured JSON export of all your notes, tasks, habits, mood logs, and calendar items at any time directly within the app via Settings > Data & Privacy > Export Data.

6. Account & Data Deletion

Because Nova Mind does not require an online account or host a centralized user database, you have full instantaneous control over data deletion:

• In-App Deletion: Navigating to Settings > Data & Privacy > Delete Account & Data permanently wipes all SQLite tables, encrypted PIN credentials, and preferences from your device storage with double confirmation.
• App Uninstall: Uninstalling Nova Mind immediately purges all application sandbox data from your device.

7. Children's Privacy

Nova Mind is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect, store, or solicit personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately so we can assist in removing it.

8. Security Safeguards

We employ modern industry best practices to protect your data, including application-level sandboxing, Android Keystore hardware-backed encryption for security credentials, and strictly TLS 1.3 encrypted HTTPS channels for AI inference requests.

9. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any modifications will be posted to this website URL with an updated effective date and reflected inside the Nova Mind mobile application under Settings.
